Do you know what music genre you are listening to? Is there a particular type of music that gives you the groove and connection? Music genres have always developed curiosity among listeners every time something new was invented. From the traditional genres to the experimental new genres, here are the ten music genres explained.

Rock

The music that originated as Rock & Roll in the 1950s and brought the courage and freedom among musicians to try out new things. It was initially a genre that used string instruments, but today it has become a much complex genre with so many subgenres under it. Bands like Pink Floyd, Metallica, Nirvana, and rockstars like Bill Haley and Chuck Berry defined what rock is and can be time over time.

One of the most popular genres today around the world is Hip-hop.  From the underground Hip-hop scene to the commercial market, Hip-Hop is seen in different colors. More than a genre, it is a culture that includes music, rap, b-boying, graffiti, and scratching. If you are a fan of Eminem, Tupac, or Kendrick Lamar, then you have been listening to Hip-hop for a long time.

Pop Music

Pop may feel like a sound effect when you think about it as a genre, but the word is actually derived from “Popular.” The music that is trending today, irrespective of what genre that belongs to ( for example, rock, country, trap, etc.), can be put under the pop genre. In most cases, pop music is commercialized and does not have any underground community.

Techno music is generally made with digital audio workshops and uses real minimal instruments. Techno music has been evolving and will continue to do so with the rise if technology.

It was first born in the 1990s and was initially considered as a darker form of music. Ever since then, dubstep has only grown among the listeners and dancers who find unique ways to connect to this music.
